Homemade pudding

Our family has a traditional Homemade Banana Cream Pie recipe that graces our homes each time a new baby comes home from the hospital. Since I have a new nephew that is scheduled to come this Sunday I’ve been dreaming about that pudding filling from this particular recipe…
but in chocolate form. yum.

92601343I revamped this traditional recipe a few months ago in my own house to satisfy my chocolate tooth…while simultaneously creating a dessert that wouldn’t overwhelm me with guilt post indulgence.
Here it is…

Homemade chocolate pudding
1/2 cup sugar
2 heaping TBSP whole wheat flour (don't think about it...just do it)
2-3 heaping TBSP cocoa
sprinkle of salt
Add 1/2 c milk or enough to make a thick paste
2 beaten egg whites (I like to use a liquid egg white product like egg white beaters)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cups milk
Wisk sugar, flour, cocoa, salt, 1/2 cup milk, egg whites and vanilla in a large saucepan on medium heat until thick paste forms. Add remaining cups of milk and whisk constantly until thick. Pour into serving cups and cool in the fridge until set. This can be added to a cooked and cooled pie crust to make a delicious chocolate cream pie!

I hope you think this is as delicious as I do.
Sure beats any chocolate pudding you can buy at the store!!

See you tomorrow for a really fun timed and tested tutorial and Friday for our thrifty tips #3!
I’m so glad you are here with me!
