under the weather...

We have been all kinds of sick over here for more than 2 weeks, but it seems we are finally on the mend.
I've been absent from this blogging world since the sicknesses arrived... and during that time my world turned into a very simple one.

The only task I could successfully complete was to survive my own illness while simultaneously taking care of the men in this house and their illnesses.
We've arrived on the other end and everything looks brighter now.

I hope you are ready to share your favorite "little things" of Christmas....mine is coming soon!

My weekend ramblings...

  • We are sick. +  My sewing machine is still broken. = A few Christmas projects have been taken off the 'to-do' list.
  • Mr. Wilson split his head open today. Scary. and Gross. Lots of hydrogen peroxide....lots of rags....and maybe some superglue.
  •  Our spare bedroom is transforming into a beautiful workspace for me. I'm very excited. I'll have to show it to you when it's all finished.
  • I held my studio recital last weekend and I was so pleased with my students and all their hard work. I got to perform as well....made me miss my old performing days.
  • Last weekend I ordered something special online for Christmas for one of my best friends and I just got an email yesterday telling me that they cancelled my order. Boo! Thanks to Urban Outfitters for saving me last minute and having the exact something special I wanted AND jumping right on the shipping.

  • Enjoyed a new little crepe place downtown with friends. Who knew that all kinds of food combinations taste divine in a crepe? I didn't know, but now I do.
  • Saw Santa repel off the top of a skyscraper with an elf and Rudolf along with a Christmas firework show.
    Surprisingly entertaining.
Only a few more days until Christmas.....what have YOU been doing?

We have planned a few more fun acts of service to do before Christmas is here. You are welcome to join us!
1. Buy lunch for the car behind you at the drive-through.
2. Leave a present for the mailman in your mailbox with a note of thanks.
3. Leave a note of thanks on the bathroom stall for the janitor who cleans it.
4. Surprise the employee at the pharmacy who fills your prescription with a note of thanks and a candy-cane.

handsomness...

We're doing much better over here now.
The sick craziness has passed.
Whew!

Just wanted to drench you with some serious amounts of handsomeness to start your day.
(are those blue eyes turning green or is it just me?)

Enjoy every little moment you are given today!
We will be doing the same.

sick day "little things"

Yesterday was a whirlwind of a day....
I think that might be a slight understatement, but it will work.

By 9:45 am I had already been up for a while and found myself half dressed for a workout that never happened with an Afro for a hairdo and no makeup attached to blue boy while he sobbed hysterically - and had already been doing so  for 2 hours straight.

Then, I couldn't help it anymore and I started sobbing too.
Just as we found ourselves in a tear-stained puddle on the floor the phone rang.
It was the nurse from the doctors office telling me they had a cancellation.
I had only 12 minutes to get there to make the appointment, but I said I would take it and ran/hobbled quickly - looking just as I did (but now with red swollen eyes) - with my 37lb. blue boy still attached to my chest and my green boy running behind me closing all the doors I left open in my rush.

In the midst of this lovely start to a crazy day,
I began composing my "little things" list:

1. Cute headbands that tackle flyaways
2. A happy and helpful little green boy
3. Strangers holding elevators for you
4. Sick blue boy not flinching or crying AT ALL when the nurse taking his blood poked incessantly because she couldn't find a vein in his chubby arm
5. Teaching students who make me smile and laugh
6. Hearing "hungry" from my sick boy who wouldn't eat or talk all day
7. Chicken and Spinach pizza for dinner
8. Snoring babies
9. Sinking into the couch with a cup of apple cider

What treasures have YOU been finding lately?
Don't forget to savor the happy "little things" in life...don't let them pass you by!

fevers and chills

Hello beautiful readers .... I want to apologize for being absent for what seems like forever!

Unfortunately, as soon as I unpacked and did all the laundry I came down with a nasty case of the stomach flu.
I will be snuggling with little boys and fighting fever and chills for as long as it takes...let's hope it's over pretty soon!
Then, we can get back together and have some FUN!
Take care .... you guys are the BEST!
